Comprised of Koroneiki olives grown within the Kalamata region of southern Greece. Distinct grassy-green in color, with a robust herbaceous flavour which builds within the mouth to leave a pleasant peppery aftertaste. In 1997 extra virgin olive oil produced on this region used to be awarded EU PDO status. Such is a make sure that the oil has been prepared, processed and produced in only this region. So the name “Kalamata” refers back to the area where the oil is produced not the number of olive used to provide it, which is a common misconception.
