Nose: Caramel and charred oak, a little orange blossom, manuka honey and vanilla.
Palate: Thick and creamy with notes of vanilla, toasty oak, honey again, a little apricot too.
Finish: Good length – rounded and rich.
Described as a sipping whiskey and produced in Lynchburg, Tennessee, JD use pure cave spring water and their unique ‘mellowing’ process which was once perfected by Jack Daniel in 1866, where it is filtered through maple charcoal, giving it’s distinctive, more ‘mellow’ and sweeter flavour than bourbon.
Known uniquely as Tennessee whiskey, it’s not subject to the regulations in relation to bourbons, including the wish to use new barrels. for ageing.
