From over 50 year-old vines, Château Montgrand-Milon is a rare example of an approachable and affordable Pauillac. The wine is well-balanced with silky tannins, great concentration and a lifted finish.
The nose boasts bright aromas of blackberries with hints of cinnamon and clove from the oak. The palate is well balanced, with silky tannins, fresh acidity, concentrated fruit and a lifted finish. It is rare to find a Pauillac like this that is both affordable and approachable.
The 2014 Château Montgrand Milon is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. Vinification took place in temperature controlled, stainless steel tanks. The wine was then aged for 12-15 months in French oak, 15% of which was new.
Château Montgrand Milon is made at Château Fonbadet, which is situated in the north of the small village of Saint-Lambert in Pauillac, close to the banks of the Gironde river. In the Middle Ages, the estate was part of Château Latour, until the current owners, the Peyronnie family, purchased it at the beginning of the 20th century. The vineyards are located near to some of the most reputed estates in Bordeaux, including Château Mouton-Rothschild and Château Latour.
